A PUBLIC SCREENING OF THESE NEW SHORT FILMS WILL TAKE PLACE - AND BASED ON AUDIENCE REACTION - CERTAIN FILMS WILL BE SUBMITTED TO SEVERAL INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVALS FOR 2020.

A.K.A. Act 1: Donna and John have lived together as a couple for some time. However, John's disturbing standup comedy persona is spilling over into his own personality, causing deep anxiety and distress to Donna, who has now decided their relationship must end. In Act 2, John performs his terrifying routine as the manic 'Conrad Dyce'.

DONNA Female, early-late 20s
JOHN / CONRAD DYCE Male, early-late 20s
BE MY FRIEND Marjorie enters 'The Companion Shop' towards a table, and standing behind it, with his hands clasped to his chest and in anticipation, stands Harold, who smiles at Marjorie. Marjorie smiles back at Harold then looks to his rear, where stands ‘Edward’.
Characters:
HAROLD A camp-ish very well-dressed/groomed gentleman assistant who runs “The Companion Shop”
MARJORIE A lady of very smart appearance
EDWARD Semi-robotic in stature, very well-dressed/groomed. He is in fact a cloned human - thus devoid of certain homo-sapiens behavioural patterns
CHOICE A short, but extremely powerful female-empowered monologue.

FEMALE Age late teens-late 20s
HOOKED A spoken-word performance, prefaced by a short narration, on the blight of contemporary drug addiction.

SPOKEN WORD Male or Female, any age
A&E Set in the waiting area of Accident & Emergency within a hospital, businessman Mr Anderson and his assistant Mr Ellis, are anxious that Anderson receive immediate treatment for a head wound. However, resistance exists in the form of Sheila, the hospital admin officer, and Nurse Gary, both of whom seem intent on thwarting this anxious pair. A dark comedy set in the present day within the NHS.

NURSE GARY Extremely camp, male early-late 20s
DANCE An unusual male/female dialogue piece, in that either (male then female) has a line each, and they will be filmed dancing arm-in-arm as the camera circles them and their movements.

EMOTIONAL CREATURE A female monologue, where the character describes her attitude to life and love.

FIFI ASHER FiFi is quite a woman. She is seated in a conservatory, sipping tea from a china cup and speaks with an Edinburgh Morningside 'Miss Jean Brodie' accent, but the content of her monologue is totally at odds with how the viewer might initially perceive her.

NOCTURNE It is the night before the planned
wedding day for Robert and Natalie. Robert is falling asleep in bed, in
a room alone and separate from Natalie, due to them both respecting the convention
of being apart on the night prior to their marriage. He is disturbed however by Natalie, as she enters the room and his bed, due to her having something important to tell him. Intriguingly, an unusual aspect will be applied to this film and it will be revealed once it is cast.

ROBERT Male, 20s-40s
NOT AT MY AGE A female monologue, as the character reveals the unusual scenario where her mother has arranged a romantic date for her (the daughter).

THE DAUGHTER Female, 20s-late 30s
ONE DAY IT WILL END A male or female monologue. The character will open up to his/her feelings on the break-up of his/her relationship in an extremely mature manner.

POND LIFE Shamus Gillespie is male, Irish and homeless. Filmed outside, he will reveal the circumstances that led to his present situation in a brutally honest, shocking and revealing way.

READ IT AND WEEP An actor (can be male or female) talks about the death of his/her best friend Gary Emerson and how his/her acting abilities came into play when reading the eulogy at his funeral service.

TANTRUM Colin and Betsy are a couple, but despite being in love, their constant fighting is causing problems. In this light-hearted short film, they try to deal with this ongoing dilemma.
